Ben,
I just listened to MILO Chat Weekly and heard that you’ve decided to get a MiFi for your iPad and dump your 3G modem. I have an alternative suggestion, if it’s not too late: keep your 3G modem (assuming it’s USB) and buy a Cradlepoint router. It turns your USB modem into a MiFi, but will work with any carrier. Depending on the model, you can connect up to 32 devices wirelessly to it. I use it with my Verizon 3G USB modem, and it works like a charm. Very easy to set up. The lowest price model (PHS300) works with up to 16 devices (seems like plenty to me) and is available for something like $140 at discount places (I got mine at Adorama in NYC). It doesn’t work with all modems, but most in the US (I was unable to get it to work with a Swisscom modem in Switzerland last week). Check out cradlepoint.com for more info. I’m convinced that this setup validates the WiFi only decision for the iPad!
